Paddu/ponganalu /paniyaram


Paddu is a South Indian dish made by steaming batter in a mould.It is an breakfast item and evening snack or can give to kids as lunch.

Ingredients

2 cups – Dosa batter
1 medium – Carrot
1/2 – Onion
1/4 cup – Cilantro
2 – Green chillies
Salt(if required)

Paddu pan – non- stick or cast iron


Description

Add grated carrots, finely chopped onion, cilantro and green chilies to the dosa batter.
add salt or skip if you had already added to dosa batter.
Mix well.

Heat non- stick (or cast iron )paddu pan at medium – low flame.
Put oil in all the pits of paddu pan and pour batter in all the pits.
Close the lid and cook for 7 to 8 minutes .

Now remove the lid and drizzle few drops of oil on top and flip the paddu’s. cook the other side for 4 to 5 minutes or until done.

Serve hot with coconut chutney or ketchup.

Notes

– Paddu pan can be found online in Amazon, flipkart . Many Indian stores in USA has paddu pan.
– Flavor can be enhanced by adding cumin seeds and curry leaves.
