Coconut chutney recipe (for Idli,Dosa,vada etc)

Chutney is a sauce of Indian cuisine. It is a side dish and have many varieties like coconut chutney,peanut,mint, mango ,tomato chutney etc..

Coconut chutney is a must side dish or sauce for Idli(rice pancakes),Dosa or Vada.

Try this simple and easy recipe to do Coconut chutney.

Ingredients

1 cup – Frozen or fresh coconut,
1/2 cup – roasted peanuts,
3/4 cup – hot water,
Piece of ginger,
3 to 4 – green chilies,
1 teaspoon – salt,
1/2 teaspoon – jeera/cumin seeds
Small ball of tamarind

For seasoning

1 tablespoon – coconut oil,
1 tsp – mustard seeds,
3 to 4 – curry leaves,
Pinch of Hing or Asafetida

Description

In a mixer, grind fresh or frozen coconut (grated or chunks),roasted peanuts,ginger, green chilies , cumin seeds/jeera, salt and tamarind by adding hot water to coarse consistency.

Take out chutney in a bowl .

For seasoning

Heat coconut oil in a pan with medium low heat,when oil is hot ,add mustard seeds, hing/Asafetida and curry leaves.

Add and mix to chutney.

Serve with Idli,Dosa or Vada.
